Northern Epics: Denali Survival Tour - 5 Hour Survival Hike/Workshop
Tour Description:
Do you want to learn about primitive survival, but don't have two weeks and thousands of dollars to spend on an in-depth survival workshop? If so, this is your tour. We teamed up with an expert survivalist who’s been teaching primitive survival for over a decade to give you the perfect 5-hour introduction to primitive survival in Denali.
After hiking off-trail into the boreal forest, you’ll learn what to do in the first 5 days of a survival situation, how to pick a good shelter location, how to actually build that shelter, how to make fire using a couple of sticks and a shoelace, and much more. You’ll leave knowing more about primitive survival than just about any other traveler in Alaska. This is, after all, the only survival tour in the entire state.
Who The DST is For:
This tour is our most premium. Despite the name, it’s actually less physically difficult than our
Wilderness Wonders Tour. This tour is great for people who want to do something truly unique (this is the only tour of its kind in Alaska). It’s also great for people who want to get hands-on and learn actual skills that they could use in a survival situation. Anyone who’s a fan of Alone or Into the Wild will be a great fit for this tour.
There will not be very much distance or elevation gain involved in this tour, even less than for the Wilderness Wonders Tour. Guests will, however, encounter the same mild bushwhacking, uneven squishy ground, and short steep hills that are associated with off-trail travel in Alaska.
What the DST Includes:
- Trekking poles
- Rain jackets
- Mosquito repellents
What the DST Does NOT Include (these aren’t required, but are recommended):
- Meal
- Water
- Rain pants (if it’s raining)
- Sturdy hiking shoes or boots
- You receive a phone call from one of our team members to offer assistance with planning and to answer any questions you may have.
- You receive a text from your guide the day before your tour confirming details and pick up.
- Your guide picks you up and returns you to your hotel (or an agreed upon location) and takes you to the trailhead.
- You'll impress your friends with the extent of your knowledge about the terrain of Alaska. They'll be shocked when you point to a clearing and can tell them what kinds of tasty berries will be growing there.

A 1% Rezgo Fee will be added to the tour total.

- Payment is collected 48 hours prior to check in, cancel 72+ hours prior to check-in, within 48 hours of arrival tour is non-refundable.
- Tours operate rain or shine and seldom cancel for rainy weather.
- If a trip is cancelled a full refund will be issued.
