Northern Epics Wilderness Wonders Tour - 4 Hour Off Trail Interpretive Nature Walk

When you enter the date you are interested in, the tours that are available for that date will populate.

Tour Description:

This 4-hour tour is entirely off-trail. You get everything from the Naturalist Walking Tour and more as you explore the boreal forest just outside Denali National Park. Sink into the thick moss with every step. Pick and eat blueberries, currants, cranberries, and many other lesser-known forest edibles.

You’ll learn everything about the boreal forest ecosystem - while being a part of it. You’ll be touching, feeling, and hiking on all the wonders your guide tells you about. This is as hands-on and authentic as it gets. The wildness of Alaska is what makes it special, and this tour embodies that wildness.

You never know what you’ll find. Guides have found sheep skulls, bones, antique cans, enormous mushrooms, lots of wildlife, and even in one case a fresh moose heart - with no moose carcass in sight (your guess is as good as mine as to how it got there!)

Who The WWT is For:

This tour is for those who want a more unique or adventurous Alaskan experience at a moderate difficulty level. There won’t be much distance or elevation gain (1-4 miles and 0-300 ft elevation gain), but there will be uneven squishy ground, some short but steep hills, and mild bushwhacking.

Most ages and ability levels will have no trouble on this tour, although people with foot, knee, hip, or back injuries or mobility issues are encouraged not to participate. A high degree of fitness is not at all required for this tour.

What the WWT Includes:

  • Trekking poles
  • Rain jackets
  • Mosquito repellents

What the WWT Does NOT Include (these aren’t required, but are recommended):

  • Meal
  • Water
  • Rain pants (if it’s raining)
  • Sturdy hiking shoes or boots
